During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Brown humorously expressed his acceptance of not winning. He joked that there’s “no losing yet,” implying that the outcome will happen in its own time. Brown mentioned that he believes Colman Domingo will probably win but added that he’s okay with not winning himself.

Despite encouragement from Norton and other guests, Brown reiterated that he’s fine with not winning the award. He expressed admiration for fellow nominee Robert Downey Jr., calling him an incredible actor deserving of recognition. Brown expressed gratitude for being nominated alongside such esteemed actors.

Norton teased Brown about how humble he’ll be if he does win the award, to which Brown responded graciously. He acknowledged that winning or not winning, he’s happy just to be part of the experience.

In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Brown praised the script of “American Fiction” as one of the best he’s ever read. He appreciated how the movie challenged the industry to portray a broader range of Black stories for mass consumption.

Brown highlighted the importance of showcasing diverse narratives and believes that “American Fiction” does just that. He acknowledged the film’s ability to critique the industry while offering alternative perspectives on Black life.

Overall, Brown’s perspective on the Oscars reflects humility and appreciation for the opportunity to be recognized alongside other talented actors. He remains focused on the importance of telling diverse stories and challenging the industry to do better in its portrayal of marginalized communities.
