  • Toyota’s Game-Changing Electric Car: 1200 km Range on a Single Charge

Toyota’s Game-Changing Electric Car: 1200 km Range on a Single Charge

The electric car revolution is in full swing, and companies like Tata, Maruti, and Toyota have been leading the charge in the market. These electric vehicles (EVs) typically offer a decent range of 500 to 800 kilometers on a single charge, making them practical choices for many consumers. However, Toyota, the renowned Japanese automaker, is now working on something that could redefine the standards of EVs.

    Toyota

What sets Toyota apart is its focus on solid-state battery technology. While the current leader in the EV market offers a maximum range of around 830 kilometers, it comes with a staggering price tag of $1.4 million, placing it far beyond the reach of the average consumer.

In contrast, Toyota’s ambitious project aims to create an EV with a range of up to 1200 kilometers on a single charge. But that’s not all. Toyota’s solid-state battery technology also promises lightning-fast charging times, with the ability to fully charge the vehicle in just 10 minutes. Such a breakthrough could revolutionize the EV industry, offering both an extended range and the convenience of rapid charging.

However, there’s a significant challenge ahead for Toyota – keeping the price of this groundbreaking EV affordable. While their success in the world of fuel-powered vehicles is well-established, with 9.5 million fuel-efficient vehicles sold worldwide in the past year, they have some catching up to do in the EV market.

To bridge this gap, Toyota has joined forces with Panasonic to develop advanced batteries, a critical component of any successful EV. Additionally, they are in the process of acquiring an electric product manufacturing company, a strategic move to bolster their position in the electric vehicle industry. With these ambitious endeavors and the recruitment of 200 top engineers worldwide, Toyota is poised to make significant strides in the EV market and redefine the future of electric transportation.

From Classic Sports Car to SUV: Shelby Cobra’s Bold Transformation!

Get ready to dive into the world of automotive imagination with the mesmerizing Shelby Cobra SUV concept, brought to life by the talented @FLYBYARTIST. This futuristic vision takes inspiration from the iconic Shelby Cobra and transforms it into a unique and thrilling SUV design that could shape the future of the automotive industry.

    Shelby Cobra SUV

The original AC Shelby Cobra sports car has a legendary story that combines the best of two worlds – a nimble British roadster infused with the power of a robust Ford V8 engine. In the early 1960s, AC Cars, based in the UK, faced a dilemma about the powerplant for their two-seat AC Ace roadster. Their outdated Bristol straight-six engine was being phased out, leaving room for innovation. On the other side of the Atlantic, Carroll Shelby, a legendary figure in the automotive world, was in search of a small, agile car that could harness the might of a big American V8 engine.

A serendipitous collaboration occurred when AC agreed to build this automotive marvel for Shelby. Carroll Shelby discovered Ford’s new 221ci (3.6-liter) Windsor V8 engine, as Chevrolet had declined to provide him with an engine due to concerns about competition with the Corvette.

We are treated to the creative vision of an AI artist known as flybyartist on social media. This AI CGI expert appears to be fascinated by the idea of retro-futuristic AC Shelby Cobra SUVs conquering city streets and desert dunes. This isn’t the first time they’ve envisioned the compact two-seat sports car evolving into a larger SUV.

While these AI-assisted designs may not be entirely accurate or meticulously detailed, some concepts stand out. Among them, the hero shot of a teal and gold two-door Shelby Cobra SUV cruising through a CGI town’s historic streets is particularly captivating. Another intriguing concept is the dark-blue four-door off-roader that follows closely behind.

In the realm of automotive design imagination, there are no limits. The Shelby Cobra SUV concept by flybyartist showcases the exciting possibilities that the future may hold for iconic vehicles like the AC Shelby Cobra. Whether these visions become reality or remain in the realm of digital art, they continue to inspire and captivate automotive enthusiasts worldwide.

  • Tesla’s New Model 3 Car: A 606-Kilometer Marvel Hits the Chinese Market

Tesla’s New Model 3 Car: A 606-Kilometer Marvel Hits the Chinese Market

US electric car company Tesla has introduced a new electric car named Model 3 in China. This car can travel up to 606 kilometers on a single charge. After the release of this car, Tesla’s stock price fell by about 6 percent on Friday, as reported by Reuters. Even though Tesla has reduced the prices of its high-end cars and full self-driving (FSD) software, the new Model 3 comes with a higher price tag.

    Model 3

This marks the first time Tesla has launched a new model in China, leaving the US market. This move is expected to intensify competition between Tesla and the Chinese car manufacturer BYD in the Chinese market.

However, while Tesla has introduced the new car in China, there’s no word yet on when the Model 3 will be available in the US market. Tesla is offering a $5,000 discount on each Model 3 sold in the Chinese market. This new car is being manufactured in China and also in Fremont, California.

According to China’s testing standards, the new Model 3 can travel up to 606 kilometers on a single charge, which is 9 percent more than Tesla’s other similar vehicles.

Tesla has stated that this new Model 3 is an improved version of their best-selling Model Y in 2020. It’s being manufactured at the Tesla plant in Shanghai, China, and will also be exported to other markets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Tesla has already started taking orders for this car in China, and it will be available for sale in China in the fourth quarter of this year (October-December). Orders are also being accepted from markets in Germany, Europe, the Middle East, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

China is Tesla’s second-largest market after the US. The company has reduced the prices of its premium Model S and Model X cars in China by approximately 14 to 21 percent. Currently, the new Model 3 is Tesla’s most expensive car after the Model Y.

According to The Verge, the price of the new Model 3 rear-wheel-drive model will be $42,990, while the Long Range version will cost $50,990. Tesla has made several changes to attract Chinese buyers, including adding a display in the back seat of the car, an improved acoustic system, and new headlights. The new car will be showcased at a trade fair in Beijing on Saturday.

  • Toyota Considering New Small Pickup Truck to Compete with Ford Maverick

Toyota Considering New Small Pickup Truck to Compete with Ford Maverick

Toyota is reportedly considering the introduction of a new small pickup truck that could potentially arrive in 2027. This new truck would be based on the Corolla Cross SUV platform and could compete with models like the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.

    Toyota Corolla–Based Small Pickup

Currently, Toyota has trucks like the Tacoma and Tundra covering the mid-size and full-size segments. However, there’s a possibility for a smaller, crossover-based pickup to fit in below these models. The idea is to create a compact pickup truck that shares components with the Corolla Cross subcompact SUV. The name for this potential truck is still unknown, but Toyota might consider reviving a historical name like “Stout” from its past lineup.

Similar to how the Maverick and Bronco Sport, as well as the Santa Cruz and Tucson, share components, the Corolla-based pickup would likely borrow parts from the Corolla Cross. This truck could feature a crew-cab setup with seating for five passengers and a short cargo bed in place of the crossover’s hatch.

Considering it’s Toyota, hybrid power is expected for this new pickup. The Corolla Cross SUV’s hybrid setup, which offers 196 horsepower and all-wheel drive, achieving an EPA combined rating of 42 mpg, could be the standard powertrain for the truck. Toyota might enhance this setup to support towing and payload capacity. In comparison, the optional hybrid drivetrain in the Maverick produces 191 horsepower and has a combined rating of 37 mpg, but it’s only available with front-wheel drive.

While the potential launch of this pickup is a few years away, it’s likely that it would be based on an updated version of the Corolla Cross, rather than the current model that debuted in 2022. The Corolla Cross is currently manufactured in a joint factory between Toyota and Mazda in Alabama. However, reports indicate that if the pickup becomes a reality, it would be built alongside the Corolla sedan in Mississippi.

  • The Evolution of Harley’s FXR Motorcycles: A Unique Legacy

The Evolution of Harley’s FXR Motorcycles: A Unique Legacy

The Harley FXR motorcycles, released in the early eighties, were different from traditional Harleys and divided opinions. Now, they are highly regarded by fans as exceptional bikes from Harley-Davidson.

    Harley FXR

The first FXR came out in 1982, with a brief revival in 1999. Despite being criticized as too “Japanese” initially, these qualities are now valued in a big V-twin motorcycle.

Back then, Japanese brands like Honda and Yamaha dominated the market with fast, reliable bikes. Harley needed to compete by creating a bike that would attract buyers from these brands. To improve sales, Harley had to enter the sports market, focusing on performance and incorporating qualities from both Harleys and sportier Japanese bikes.

Although Harley was already working on the FLT, they used its drivetrain and designed a new frame for the FXR instead. Steve Pertsch led the FXR’s design team, with input from Eric Buell, a road racer. Buell’s racing experience influenced the bike’s design, aiming to blend Harley’s traditional look with sporty features.

The first FXR models were introduced in 1981 for the 1982 model year. These included the FXR Super Glide II and the FXRS. Before the FXR, Harley-Davidson bikes were known for strong vibrations and a cruiser stance. The challenge was to combine Harley’s appearance with sporty performance, which required reducing vibrations for better handling.

The FXR’s chassis was crucial for achieving the desired performance. Its steel double cradle frame provided stability and good lean angles. Stamped-steel parts were used to reduce weight, and the rear shock’s position balanced the bike. The FXR’s chassis accommodated an innovative design, offering better ground clearance while maintaining Harley’s signature style.

The bike’s seat height allowed accessibility and retained the traditional Harley stance. Front forks, steering head, rear Showa shocks, and triple disc brakes contributed to its impressive handling.

The FXR’s distinguishing feature was the rubber-mounted engine, which minimized vibrations. The engine was borrowed from the FLT and later transitioned to the Evolution engine. The isolastic engine mounting system, similar to Norton motorcycles, further reduced vibrations. Chain final drive was later replaced by belt drive, and the five-speed transmission enabled smoother highway cruising.

The FXR’s construction required attention to detail, resulting in hand-assembled frames. The FXR2 and FXR3 models were later revived under Harley’s Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) program, offering chrome upgrades and unique accessories.

The FXR’s success can be attributed to its engineers’ commitment to merging Harley’s tradition with modern performance. However, the FXR’s smoothness, similar to Japanese bikes, disappointed some traditionalists, affecting sales.

Despite this, the FXR platform remains one of Harley-Davidson’s most outstanding achievements, pushing boundaries and creating a competitive sports-based cruiser. Today, the FXR’s legacy endures. It attracts riders seeking a blend of craftsmanship, performance, and uniqueness, solidifying its place as a remarkable motorcycle.

  • China’s First Sport Bike: An Early Look at QJMotor’s SRK1000RR

China’s First Sport Bike: An Early Look at QJMotor’s SRK1000RR

China’s motorcycle industry has been making strides, and QJMotor’s foray into the superbike market has been generating attention. Recent leaked type-approval documents shed light on the upcoming SRK1000RR, the nation’s first liter-class sport bike. While the bike holds promise, some of its specifications might leave enthusiasts feeling a bit underwhelmed.

    Sport Bike

The official documents confirm that the SRK1000RR is powered by a 921cc inline-four engine. However, its performance figures might not ignite excitement, as it produces 127 horsepower at 10,500 RPM and 70 pound-feet of torque at 8,100 RPM. Interestingly, this engine is borrowed from MV Agusta, the renowned Italian motorcycle manufacturer.

This collaboration stems from a partnership between MV Agusta and QJMotor, with the latter using a 550cc engine for the Lucky Explorer 5.5 project. The reciprocal arrangement sees QJMotor adopting MV Agusta’s engine for the SRK1000RR.

While the sub-130 horsepower output might not position the SRK1000RR as a top contender in the liter-class segment, the bike offers other intriguing features. Notably, it boasts a single-sided swingarm, a rare sight in this category, and a tubular trellis chassis. These components, alongside Marzocchi USD forks and a monoshock, are taken directly from the Brutale 1000 RS model. The bronze 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 120/190-section rubber, contribute to the bike’s dynamic appeal, along with what appears to be Brembo Stylema brakes.

Design-wise, opinions are mixed. While the SRK1000RR boasts distinctive features such as its unique headlight assembly and aerodynamic wings, it might not immediately resonate with a wide audience based on the available photo. However, motorcycle enthusiasts hope that the bike’s appearance will prove more appealing in person.

With the SRK1000RR’s type-approval secured, the eagerly awaited official reveal is on the horizon. The upcoming 2023 EICMA event seems like the ideal stage for an international unveiling, followed by a European launch in 2024. Considering QJMotor’s expanding presence in the American market, a simultaneous launch in the United States is also plausible.

As motorcycle enthusiasts anticipate the SRK1000RR’s debut, it remains to be seen how this Chinese entry will stack up against established competitors like the Ducati Panigale V2, MV Agusta F3 800, and the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. The motorcycle community is intrigued by this new development, and QJMotor’s SRK1000RR could mark a significant milestone in China’s growing presence in the global motorcycle market.

  • Off-Road Excitement: First Glimpse of Moto Guzzi V100 Stelvio in Spy Shots

Off-Road Excitement: First Glimpse of Moto Guzzi V100 Stelvio in Spy Shots

Rumors and expectations about the new Moto Guzzi V100 Stelvio have gained momentum, and now spy shots have emerged, giving us a glimpse of what could be the much-anticipated adventure-biased version of the V100 Mandello. The Moto Guzzi V100 Stelvio’s off-road character is evident in the first spy shots, setting it apart from its Mandello sibling.

    Moto Guzzi V100

The anticipation for the V100 Stelvio was sparked by a display at the 2022 EICMA show—a spoked wheel with the name ‘Stelvio’ underneath it, hinting at the bike’s development. And now, the recently surfaced spy photos, shared by Motociclismo, shed light on the Stelvio’s adventure-oriented design changes.

Distinctive features of the Stelvio, as revealed in the spy photos, include spoked wheels, including a larger 19-inch front wheel. These wheels differentiate it from the Mandello. While the Stelvio retains the Mandello’s signature front light, the front bodywork has seen slight modifications.

Additionally, the Stelvio boasts extended suspension travel for improved off-road capabilities. Other off-road enhancements comprise heightened ground clearance, hand guards, a skid plate, and a windshield positioned higher than that of the Mandello.

Technological advancements are also present in the Stelvio. Front radar, likely intended for various electronic aids like adaptive cruise control, is a notable addition. Rear radar, which aids in blind spot warnings transmitted through LED lights in the mirrors, further enhances safety.

While an official confirmation and detailed specifications from the manufacturer are yet to surface, a reasonable estimation places the potential unveiling of the V100 Stelvio during the second week of November, possibly in Milan.
