ZTE has provided a sneak peek of the upcoming ‘Photographer’s Edition’ of the Nubia Z60 Ultra, generating anticipation among photography enthusiasts. While the internal components are anticipated to remain consistent with the standard model, the focus will likely be on refining the camera experience.

The Nubia Z60 Ultra boasts a triple-camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel Sony IMX800 primary camera with a focal length of 18mm, a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50E ultra-wide lens with a focal length of 35mm, and a 64-megapixel OV64B periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom with a focal length of 85mm. Nubia Z60 Ultra: A Breakthrough with 6000mAh Smartphone Battery Technology

Nubia recently revealed its latest top-tier smartphone, the Nubia Z60 Ultra, featuring an impressive 6000mAh silicon carbon anode battery, proudly hailed as “the battery life ceiling of the imaging flagship.” The official unveiling of the Nubia Z60 Ultra is scheduled for December 19th.

The smartphone’s unique battery technology involves a silicon carbon anode, a departure from the conventional graphite anode batteries commonly found in smartphones. Silicon carbon anode batteries offer higher energy density, meaning they can store more energy without adding extra weight to the battery.

While pure silicon anode materials provide excellent energy density, they encounter challenges related to expansion during charging and discharging cycles. Nubia’s innovative solution involves using a combination of silicon and graphite (carbon) materials for the anode, providing an optimal balance.

The external design of the Z60 Ultra has been officially confirmed, featuring eye-catching options such as the Starry Sky Collector’s Edition, Galaxy, and Shine colors. The Starry Sky Collector’s Edition stands out with an exclusive glasses-free 3D star diamond relief technology on its back panel, a high-resolution starry sky micro-etching process, and a unique “lens nano texture.”

The Galaxy and Star Shine color variants showcase an AG matte process, blending matte and bright light elements for an aesthetically pleasing look. On the back, the device features a fifth-generation under-display camera (UDC) full-screen display with narrow bezels.

The camera setup includes an 18mm 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 35mm 50MP primary camera, and an 85mm 64MP periscope telephoto lens, all equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS). Anticipated to run on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the Z60 Ultra supports 80W wired fast charging and comes with IP68-rated dust and water resistance.

Nubia is getting ready to launch two new phones in China powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Red Magic 9 Pro series, featuring this new chip, is set to be released later this week, while the Z60 Ultra is expected to debut in December. According to Digital Chat Station, the upcoming Nubia Z60 Ultra is rumored to include an under-display front camera and a 35mm camera. Notably, even the ultra-wide-angle camera has been upgraded to the top configuration, with sensor specifications considered the largest in the industry. It is also said to support optical image stabilization (OIS).

The tipster added that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered flagship will be unveiled in December. In a newer Weibo post, the tipster shared an image that he had already released back in August. He said that the prototype device shown on the right, which appears to be the Z60 Ultra, has a very prominent protrusion.

In August, the tipster claimed that the device is equipped with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 35mm primary camera. However, the tipster has mentioned that Nubia has not yet incorporated the IMX989 35mm sensor in the Z60 Ultra. Hence, it is unclear which primary camera will be available on the device.

The detailed specifications of the Z60 Ultra haven’t been leaked yet, but a recent Geekbench listing revealed that it will arrive with 12 GB RAM and Android 14. In terms of market positioning, it is set to rival the likes of the Xiaomi 14 Pro, iQOO 12 Pro, Vivo X100 Pro, OnePlus 12, Realme GT 5 Pro, Meizu 21 series, Oppo Find X7 Pro, and Honor Magic 6 Pro in the Chinese market. Except for the X100 Pro, which has the Dimensity 9300 chip, all other flagship phones are equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
