Venice: A City of Canals and Charm

September 24, 20232 Mins Read

Venice is a well-known and unique city that doesn’t require much introduction. For those who haven’t had the chance to visit Venice, it’s like stepping into a dream. Not too long ago, this island city could only be reached by boat because it’s situated in the middle of the sea. Once you’re in Venice, you won’t find cars or bicycles; instead, you’ll rely on walking or using boats to get around.

To explore Venice by water, you can use water taxis by scanning your ticket. If you take a look at the Grand Canal next to the Rialto Bridge, it might remind you of a smaller version of Sadarghat. Here, boats are an essential mode of transportation for various activities, including police work and food deliveries.

One of the most delightful experiences in Venice is wandering through its charming alleyways. Getting lost in the maze-like streets is almost inevitable, but it’s all part of the adventure. Interestingly, you might notice that some of the canal water in Venice doesn’t smell very pleasant. Historically, Venice gained fame during its time as a powerful trading empire.

With a formidable navy and Venice as its capital, it controlled a vast empire. St. Mark’s Cathedral stands as a remarkable piece of architecture in Venice, and right beside it is the Doge’s Palace. Four hundred years ago, this palace held significant political importance in Europe.

Venice’s dominance during its golden age was largely thanks to its extensive fleet of ships, which were manufactured in the “Venetian Arsenal” factory. These warships played a crucial role in Venice’s security. One noteworthy change in recent times is that Venice experiences hotter weather and less rainfall compared to the past.

Throughout its history, Venice has been home to the incarceration of many famous individuals. They found themselves imprisoned here for various reasons. An interesting aspect of life in Venice is that those who reside near canals often require a boat to access or exit their homes. Straying from the established rules isn’t advisable since the vigilant police keep a close watch on the city.
