There’s some talk on the Chinese social media site Weibo about Sony’s new phone, the Xperia 1 VI. People are saying it might have a really big screen, like the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, which has a massive 6.9-inch display. But, some Sony fans are worried that a super-big screen might make the phone hard to use.
You see, Sony’s Xperia phones usually have a taller shape, kind of like a 21:9 movie screen. And in the past, Sony kept the top part of the phone a bit thick to fit in the front camera. This made the display look nice and uninterrupted. But if the new rumor about a 6.9-inch screen is true, Sony might need to get rid of that thick top part to keep the phone a reasonable size.
Now, some phones use a cool trick where the front camera hides under the display, but it messes with the picture quality because the pixels in front of the camera can’t be totally see-through. So, what might Sony do? Well, there’s a guess that they might use something called an ultra-micro-hole or micro-matrix front camera.
This fancy tech would let them make the top part of the phone smaller without hiding the camera under the display. But, the details about how this camera works are still a bit of a secret.
Before, people thought Sony would use this cool camera tech in the Xperia 1 V, but it didn’t happen. Now, it seems like Sony might be thinking about it again for the Xperia 1 VI. So, we’ll have to wait and see what Sony comes up with for their new phone. This is exciting times for Sony fans.
