  • Electric Revolution: Xiaomi’s SU7 Sedan Takes on Tesla in China!

Electric Revolution: Xiaomi’s SU7 Sedan Takes on Tesla in China!

China’s Xiaomi has officially published its highly anticipated electric car; the new Speed Ultra 7 (SU7) sedan, in Beijing on Thursday night. Lei Jun is the founder and CEO of the popular Chinese smartphone brand and she announced that the company’s first electric vehicle would be priced between 215,900 yuan ($29,874) and 299,900 yuan ($41,497) in China.

    Ultra 7 (SU7)

The starting price undercuts Tesla’s Model 3 sedan by about $4,000,with the Model 3 beginning at 245,900 yuan in China. Lei had hinted at the launch by expressing his desire for the SU7 to be the “best-looking, easiest to drive, and smartest car” priced below 500,000 yuan ($69,180).

Xiaomi aims to create a “dream car” on par with Porsche and Tesla, Lei stated on Weibo Wednesday and she is emphasizing the need to learn from these renowned car manufacturers to build quality vehicles. Targeting premium consumers, Xiaomi’s new car is competitively priced against foreign rivals. For instance, the imported Porsche Taycan starts at 898,000 yuan ($124,248), while Tesla’s Model S begins at 698,900 yuan ($96,700) in China.

In China, electric vehicles (EVs) are notably cheaper compared to other regions. BYD’s entry-level model, the Seagull hatchback, is priced at just 69,800 yuan ($9,658). The standard version of Xiaomi’s SU7 boasts a starting range of 700 kilometers (435 miles), surpassing the long-range version of Tesla’s Model 3, according to Lei.

Within 27 minutes of sales commencement at 10 p.m. Beijing time on Thursday, orders for the car surpassed 50,000 units, as announced by Xiaomi. Lei expressed his immense excitement during the launch event on Thursday night, which was attended by founders and CEOs of several Chinese EV makers.

Xiaomi’s foray into the automotive industry comes amid fierce competition in China’s EV market which has become oversaturated with over 200 major manufacturers. Facing a price war and weaker consumer demand, average profit margins dwindled to 5% in 2023, with BYD reporting its slowest quarterly profit growth in two years earlier this week.

Xiaomi’s SU7 has been showcased in showrooms across 29 cities in mainland China since Monday. Renowned for its smartphones and consumer electronics, Xiaomi captured 13% of global and Chinese smartphone sales in the final quarter of 2023. It ranked fifth in China for the full year.

  • Xiaomi’s Modena EV to Introduce Innovative Automatic Crash Detection

Xiaomi’s Modena EV to Introduce Innovative Automatic Crash Detection

Xiaomi’s upcoming electric vehicle (EV), known as the Modena, is set to be launched later this year. Before the release, a new patent from Xiaomi has been discovered, revealing a technology for automatic crash detection and emergency contact alerts.

    Modena

The patent outlines a system that employs three modules to evaluate the seriousness of an accident: a Get module, a Determine module, and a Communication module. The Get module collects status information about the vehicle, including battery failure, circuit failure, airbag deployment, and wheel detachment. The Determine module then uses this data to classify the accident as Level 1 or Level 2.

Level 1 accidents involve minor damage, such as a cracked windshield or damaged bumper. In the case of a Level 1 accident, the system sends a text message with accident details to the vehicle’s pre-set emergency contact.

Level 2 accidents are more severe, including events like vehicle rollover, oil tank leakage, or wheel detachment. In a Level 2 accident, the system sends a notification message to the pre-set emergency contact and initiates an emergency call to the emergency service center.

During the emergency call, the system rejects all calls from both emergency and non-emergency contacts. After the emergency call concludes, the system awaits an emergency callback. Throughout this waiting period, any calls from non-emergency contacts are declined. Calls from the emergency contact or emergency service center will be routed through the vehicle’s associated terminal device.

The system also starts a timer when the emergency rescue wait begins after coordinating with the emergency service center. If the rescue isn’t completed within the designated waiting time, another call will be made to the pre-set emergency contact.

This advanced system for vehicle crash detection and emergency contact alerts is expected to be featured in the Xiaomi Modena EV. The Modena is also anticipated to incorporate BYD LFP and CATL Qilin batteries, a Snapdragon 8295 processor, and more.

  • Revolutionizing Phone Screens: Xiaomi’s Latest Innovation

Revolutionizing Phone Screens: Xiaomi’s Latest Innovation

Xiaomi, a big tech company, has done something amazing with its new phone, the Xiaomi 14 Pro. They changed the way the screen works by using a Full Iso-Depth Micro-Curved Screen. This is different from the curved screens they used in their other Pro phones.

    Xiaomi 14 Pro

The reason for this change is that curved screens can sometimes have problems. The corners of the screen can get stressed, which leads to tiny folds and maybe even damage to the screen. To solve this problem, Xiaomi’s engineers took the screen apart, piece by piece, into a million smaller parts.

They looked at each tiny part and figured out where the stress was the highest. Then, they made the film layer thicker and more elastic to handle the stress better. This took them two years of hard work, and they used 51,000 screen pieces just to test it. That’s 18 times more investment than what it usually takes to make a curved screen.

Xiaomi created the Full Iso-Depth Micro-Curved Screen. It’s not just a technical achievement; it also looks great. The screen looks like it’s floating and it’s really smooth. It combines the good parts of a flat screen with the cool look of a curved screen. It’s like Xiaomi found a way to make everyone happy, whether they like flat or curved screens.

    Revolutionizing Phone Screen

The Xiaomi 14 Pro with its Full Iso-Depth Micro-Curved Screen is a new standard in phone screens. It makes the phone better by giving you the best of both flat and curved screens. Xiaomi is now a leader in phone technology because of this cool innovation.

In the world of phones, things are always changing and getting better. Xiaomi is a big part of this change. They keep doing new things and making phones that show how good technology can be. People all over the world use Xiaomi phones, and they can expect even better things in the future.
